Fly Fishing the West Yellowstone Area |
|
| Day 1: |
Found the Gallatin and tried to get into the zone. |
| Day 2: |
Three Dollar Bridge, one hot 90 degree day, practiced the Czech nymphing technique. Afternoon wind, hoppers, one endless riffle. Great day, good fish!! |
| Day 3: |
Madison between the lakes. Tricos in the morning, whitefish afternoon, and a nice spinner fall at the first pool to Quake lake. |
| Day 4: |
First day in the park. Read the Soda Butte plaque and learned what a butte actually looks like. Lamar, walked upstream through the Bison sand . Hoppers, midge pupae, and one crazy hippie from Oregon. Paul lost his jacket with everyhting in it. And Lou came down with bad case of faulty plumbing. |
| Day 5: |
The Firehole and very innocent trout. My bloody damn nose. Geyser backdrop. A nice evening rise against the wind swept meadow. |
| Day 6: |
Back to basics, morning on the Madison. Found many big boys feeding right off the bank until they’re pushed deeper by daily angling pressure. Afternoon jacket retrieval, a bone cleansing soak in the hot springs, and a good evening fish on the Gardner. |
| Day 7: |
Off to Bozeman but not before a chilly grey, olive kind of day on the Gallatin. Streamers, nymphs, and the Olives bidded us a sweet farewell in the folding afternoon light. |
| Sweet dreams |
